COVID-19 Response

Important Practice Updates and Information

Dear Friends,

It is with great relief and gratitude that we welcomed the decision of our state officials to begin opening the Alabama economy and allow the performance of elective surgery as of May the 1st. We performed our first operations since the quarantine on that day. With the utmost respect for what is occurring worldwide and concern for your health and safety, we have developed new protocols which modify the normal routines in our clinic. Among these, we will limit numbers in our reception area with appropriate scheduling and, ask that when possible, you attend clinic visits alone or, at the most, with one significant other. In the event you have fever, cough, or any upper respiratory symptoms please call the office and reschedule your appointment. A brief history and a temperature check will be performed in the atrium of our office building before admission into the main clinic. In compliance with the City of Birmingham ordinance, we ask that you wear a facial mask to your appointments until further notice. Hand sanitizer will available for you as needed and appropriate social distancing guidelines will be observed. It is our hope that the need for these protocols is temporary and we will modify them as the situation evolves and local regulations allow. Thank you in advance for your understanding, patience, and loyalty to our practice.

Sincerely,
Dr. Christopher Schaffer
