Choosing the Best Plastic Surgeon

When considering plastic surgery, safety, certification and outcomes are of the utmost importance. To achieve the best results, you should seek out a board-certified plastic surgeon who has not only met industry standards, but one who goes the extra mile to promote patient safety.

At Schaffer Plastic Surgery, Dr. Schaffer applies the experience he has developed from 20 years of practice and eight years of advanced training to every patient and procedure.

His experience and eye for aesthetics allow him to conduct procedures that blend patient ideals and goals with their anatomic potential to create beautiful results that not only meet, but aim to exceed patient expectations. Through every procedure, each member of the Schaffer Plastic Surgery team remains committed to high standards of patient safety before, during and after operations.

“Patient safety is not just about the procedure itself. At Schaffer Plastic Surgery, we take every step we can to ensure safety before, during and after operations,” said Dr. Schaffer. “Safety begins with one-on-one consultations where we can hold in-depth discussions regarding patient goals and surgery details. We also only perform one surgery at a time at our private facility, so every patient can expect all hands on deck to ensure their comfort and high-quality care. We are also located right across the road from Grandview Medical Center, which brings patients and families additional peace of mind.”

In addition to Dr. Schaffer’s extensive experience, Schaffer Plastic Surgery holds full accreditation from the American Association for Accreditation of Ambulatory Surgery Facilities (AAAASF).

What is ASF Accreditation?

AAAASF Accreditation is not held by all facilities, and it is considered the gold standard in accreditation for ambulatory surgery facilities, also known as outpatient surgery centers. This accreditation is a confirmation to patients that a facility and its staff have taken extra steps to promote safety, and recognition is only provided to facilities that have met one hundred percent of AAAASF’s high standards.

AAAASF holds facilities to hospital standards, requires surgeons to be board certified and have hospital privileges, holds surgical environments to stringent cleaning standards and requires a peer review of the facility. As an accreditation body, ASF has championed patient safety for nearly 40 years. After meeting these standards for an initial accreditation, the facility will be re-evaluated through a survey annually and through an onsite visit every three years, ensuring they retain the highest standards for patient safety.

“We chose to seek out AAAASF Accreditation in order to show patients and their families that Schaffer Plastic Surgery holds itself to the highest of standards,” Dr. Schaffer said. “We encourage our patients to ask about our accreditation, and we are always happy to provide more information about the strict requirements we have met.”
