What is a Breast Lift?
A breast lift, also known as a mastopexy, is a cosmetic surgical procedure that lifts breasts that have begun to sag due to the natural aging process, weight loss or gain, pregnancy, and/or breastfeeding. During this procedure, Dr. Schaffer will reposition the breast tissue to lift and reshape the breasts, excess skin will be removed and the nipple will be moved to a higher position on the breast to give the breasts a more aesthetically pleasing appearance.
A breast lift can be performed with many different techniques. During your consultation, we will determine which technique best suits your needs and develop an appropriate treatment plan.
How Long Do Results Last?
The results of a breast lift are long-lasting, but with time, your breasts will begin to sag again. An additional breast lift may be required after several years in order to maintain your results. How quickly your breasts begin to sag can depend on genetics, age and bra wearing habits.
What is the Recovery Period?
We recommend patients plan to take at least three to four days off of work. If your job requires you to bend or lift, you should plan to take more time off. You can begin light walking the day following your breast lift procedure and slowly begin to add in activities after a couple weeks. Dr. Schaffer will give you further details regarding your recovery following your procedure.
Breast Lift Revision Surgery
Benefits of Breast Lift Revision Surgery
The breast lift revision surgery is an option for patients hoping to refine their results after their initial breast lift procedure. The benefits of the breast lift revision surgery include:
- Achieving symmetry that may have been suboptimal after the initial operation
- Relifting tissue that may have sagged after the original lift
Reasons To Have a Breast Lift Revision Performed
While most patients who pursue a breast lift revision are doing so because they are disappointed by their initial results, there are other reasons to consider this procedure. A breast lift revision can be performed to refresh and extend the lifespan of your results. It can also be performed to better align your results with your changing personal preferences.
