How it Works
Juvederm’s® main ingredient is modified hyaluronic acid, which is a natural substance found in the body that delivers volume to the skin. Your Juvederm® Appointment
Dr. Schaffer will carefully examine and study your facial anatomy to best determine injection sites and specific injectable products that are most suitable for achieving your desired results. In the comfort of our private facility that has been nationally certified for our deep commitment to the highest standards of patient safety, your procedure will likely take less than one hour. After cleansing and preparing the area to be treated, Dr. Schaffer will inject Juvederm® through the skin with an ultra-fine needle to temporarily fill in and augment the treatment area and smooth moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds. Injections are mildly painful, but treatment areas can be numbed to further minimize any discomfort.
The most common side effects found with Juvederm® are injection-site redness, swelling, pain, tenderness, firmness, bruising, discoloration and itching. These side effects are typically mild or moderate and tend to subside in less than a few days. Juvederm® is regarded as safe and well-studied with a long history of successful use.
Post-Treatment Care
Juvederm® injections typically require no downtime, although you may experience some mild tenderness or discomfort after your procedure. You may apply a cold compress to help reduce any swelling and should avoid strenuous exercise and alcohol consumption for 24 hours. Typically, your results will be visible after swelling has decreased two to three days after your injections, with the potential for an improved appearance over time.
